    This course is designed to raise teacher awareness by examining the current health issues confronting today's educators. Topics include nutrition and fitness, sexual activity, substance abuse, school safety, legal considerations, conflict management, bullying, accident prevention, child abuse, emotional well being, communicating with parents, local and community health and mental health resources, curriculum and instructional materials. Teachers will reflect on how this information connects to their own practice within their own classrooms and schools. They will learn how to integrate this information into their existing curriculum.

    Note: Your final course project requires a classroom environment to complete. If you take this course during a time when class is not in session, please work with your instructor to complete the assignment when you can teach the lesson plan you've developed.
