    Bridges in Mathematics: A Closer Look (ED/B 9498)

    This eight week course offers support for those currently implementing Bridges in Mathematics, K-5, including teachers, resource specialists, student teachers, staff developers, teacher assistants, and paraprofessionals. The extended time frame and online format allow for deep reflection and a learning experience tailored to the particular circumstances of each participant. A Closer Look addresses successful implementation of the curriculum while also investigating why and how this approach to learning mathematics benefits both the teacher and the student.

    Areas of focus include:

    • Exploring mathematical "Big Ideas" within the lessons you are teaching.
    • Using questioning strategies to promote autonomous, self-directed student learning.
    • Planning mathematics lessons using visual models.
    • Organizing and managing the classroom.
    • Using Home Connections to enhance parent communication.
    • Using student work to assess mathematical growth.
