Professional Development Elective Credits
Though not required, students may opt to apply for Graduate-level Professional Development Elective Credit for any of our online courses. In partnership with Chapman University, semester hours of credit are awarded to students based upon successful completion of course requirements. These credits are professional development units that are not part of a degree program but, instead, are primarily used for professional advancement (such as salary increment steps and recertification).

Students should seek approval of appropriate district or college officials before enrolling in these courses to satisfy any degree, state credential, or local school district requirements.

All eight (8) week courses offer 3 semester units of professional development elective credit; six (6) week courses offer 2 semester units of professional development elective credit. Applying for credits is separate from course tuition at a cost of $60 per credit.

How to apply for credits

You may apply for credits only after you have enrolled in a course. You should apply for credits within 6 months of the completion of the course. To apply for credits, sign in to the edCenter. Go to the area of the screen on the "My Home" page that is titled "My Courses." (This is near the middle of the page.) On the right-side of the screen, a button or link titled "Apply Credits" will be displayed. Click on that link, and you will be taken through the application and payment process. A credit card is needed to complete the credit application process.

About four to six weeks after course completion and/or credit application date, you will receive an email confirming your credits have been awarded. In addition, Chapman University will send an unofficial grade report to you by postal mail. If you need an official transcript, the form is available at http://www.chapman.edu/ExEd/k-12/forms/transcriptReq.asp.
