TEC810
Integrating Technology into Your Instruction (ED/D 9019)

Tuition: $150.00

Units: 3

Course Overview
In order for technology to be seamlessly integrated into effective instruction, explicit connections need to be made between existing strategies or practices in the classroom, and the technology resources on hand. This course is designed to bridge that gap so technology is not seen as a gimmick or an add-on, but as a useful powerful tool and resource for instruction. Participants will understand how accessible technology resources can be woven into their existing program of instruction. They will also learn new strategies to strengthen their ability to teach with technology. The course covers a wide range of practical classroom technology applications, and is scaffolded and differentiated for different experience levels. Practical classroom applications of technology are emphasized in each topic. In addition, students receive support and guidance from trained experienced instructors. Course meets ISTE, and NCLB Technology standards.

Prerequisites
This course is designed for the teacher who has introductory to intermediate skill in using technology as measured by CTAP's Technology Assessment. Students who sign up for this course should have some experience using technology in their personal lives (email, word processing, etc.) but may have limited or no experience using technology in the classroom.

Participants will:

  • understand the basics of managing technology resources in a classroom even if resources are limited.
